DUBAI WOODSHOW 2007

EUMABOIS ENTERS INTO AN EXCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH WOODSHOW TO BRING  EUROPEAN MARKET LEADERS TO THE ARAB REGION.

Dubai Woodshow 2007, the dedicated wood and wood machinery exhibition in the Middle East, will feature an extensive European line-up, headlined by the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Eumabois), the foremost international trade association for the European wood industry. Organisers of the Dubai Woodshow, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, have signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Eumabois to jointly promote Dubai Woodshow.

Eumabois is the federation of 13 European national associations representing the largest manufacturers of machinery and accessories in Europe for the wood industry. The 800 manufacturers cooperating with Eumabois account for an annual production of more than 53.2 billion EUR, which represents close to 60 per cent of global production of wood working machinery and tools.

“The support of Eumabois is representative of our focus and commitment to position Dubai Woodshow as the only platform for opportunities and serious business for wood trade in the region. As the leading player in the European woodworking industry, Eumabois certainly has a lot to offer in terms of modern technologies and innovative products for the growing construction and real estate sector in the UAE and the neighboring GCC states,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Managing Director, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions. “Today, leading companies across the globe are looking to the Middle East as the new growth market and are seeking to tap the opportunities presented by the construction boom throughout the region. A highly specialized show like Dubai Woodshow will go a long way in helping to take advantage of this global interest in the Middle East market.”

Dubai Woodshow 2007, which is also supported by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) and Czech Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Association (CWMMA), provides an excellent platform for regional and international companies to showcase their latest wood machinery and woodworking products to business prospects and build new strategic relationships with buyers, traders and investors. The show made its debut in April 2006 against a backdrop of heightened demand for wood and woodworking products in the Middle East, mainly due to sharp increase in construction activities across the region.

“Wood imports to the UAE stand at an all-time high and with other regional countries witnessing a similar surge in wood consumption, a comprehensive trade fair like Dubai Woodshow will serve to add further momentum to the strong growth of the wood and wood machinery industry in the Middle East,” said Gianni Ghizzoni, President of Eumabois. “In line with Eumabois' strategy, the decision has been made to avoid too many events being scheduled, which would only take up the time of exhibiting companies. Instead a single trade show will take place where high technological content of the sector is made visible to potential users and trade visitors. Dubai Woodshow 2007 will help us to explore partnerships from the Middle East region and showcase our quality equipment, machinery, tools and products for the region’s woodworking industry.”

About Dubai Woodshow 2007

VARIABLE SOLUTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL EDGING BY HOLZHER :

The SPRINT 1315/1317 series offers the user a wide range of solutions for rational and individual edging of materials in panel form. The Nürtingen-based machine manufacturer HOLZ-HER REICH Spezialmaschinen GmbH offers high-quality edgebanders which fit the respective product profile of any business.

The requirements that must be met when investing in an edgebander are very high, based on the individual demands of the purchaser. On the one hand, edgebanders should produce very good quality in terms of edging and post-machining the glued edges. On the other hand, manual post-machining should be reduced to a minimum or dispensed with entirely. The demands of furniture buyers also require a high level of variability in terms of processing a wide range of edging and panel materials. The investment must be made at a reasonable price/performance ratio, so that the jobs carried out by joiners' workshops are carried out in a profitable manner.

To this end, the company HOLZ-HER offers the SPRINT 1315/1317 models in its middle range. These machines permit the edging of panels from the run-in region to the finishing region. The staggered machining techniques mean that it is not necessary to carry out any manual post-machining of the edges.

 Simple control - convenient operation

The Power PC control system PPC 221 ensures rational set-up and conversion on a windows-like user interface. To this end, all the information is displayed to the user in plaintext and/or graphic form. Individual selection of the units allows central control and fine adjustment from the control panel. By means of simple program selection, the stored programs are called up and the machine is set to the corresponding programmed machining operations.

Complete detection of all operating data in turn shows the production data for the purpose of post-calculation. Industrial processors and CANBUSes ensure data exchange on a unitary platform, wherein the integrated synchronous bus control ensures accuracy when controlling the individual units.

Well-designed equipment - rational machining

From the fully automatic edging feed system to the buffer units, the series is equipped for a clean finish. Individual service packages can be added by the customer at any time. As the first unit in the SPRINT 1317 model, the jointing cutter station joins the edge surfaces of the panel-type materials. Small tears in the top layers are eliminated, so that a clean panel surface is obtained. The fully automatic feed of cut-length and coiled edging of up to 8 mm (15 mm as an option) takes place in the magazine. The glue application system, with the nozzle technology patented by HOLZ-HER, ensures a perfect hold of the edge by means of EVA or PUR glue. It is possible to choose between using the cartridge system or the granule system.

Different colours of glue can be used without any problem, in order to give a perfect optical finish to the individual item of furniture. The subsequent pressure unit, with post-pressure rollers to minimize the glued join, applies a high pressure force. With regard to the post-machining units, the end trimming unit with its long and linear cut ensures a clean end trimming result. Flush, radius or chamfer cuts are carried out by the multifunction cutter unit, optionally with motor-driven adjustment. In order to smooth radii and chamfers on plastic edges, a scraper unit for different radii is installed as standard.

In the finishing region, the copying cutter unit carries out machining of the vertical front and rear edge. Especially in the front region, the edges are provided with the same radius as the longitudinal edge in order to meet the high demand for design functionality of the piece of furniture being produced. In the finishing region, the flat scraper means that the need for manual post-machining in order to clean the panel surface is reduced to zero. Spray devices for cleaning purposes may also be installed, so that the subsequent buffer unit can carry out clean post-machining on the edging materials.

The machining units are integrated in a compact and stable machine frame. The clear geometric design provides good accessibility to the units due to its optimal space conditions.

Optional unit add-ons, such as motor-driven or pneumatic adjustment options for example, permit a high degree of automation of the SPRINT 1315/1317 edgebanders from HOLZ-HER Reich Spezialmaschinen GmbH. Individual machining options, coupled with a high-quality result and a very high level of cost-effectiveness can be achieved with these machine.

Your success is our target

Dieffenbacher at Lesdrevmash 2006

“Your success is our target” – under this motto the Dieffenbacher Group focuses on the world market demand for plants to enable faster, more efficient and environmentally friendly production as well as the use of resources at reduced costs and highest quality standards.  Dieffenbacher, a worldwide leading supplier of complete production plants, will present novelties with aim at boosting the success of panel manufactures, together with affiliated companies Schenkmann-Piel-Engineering GmbH, Dieffenbacher Maschinenfabrik GmbH and Intec Engineering GmbH. To convince themselves, visitors are invited to stand no. 22D20 in hall 2.

Highlights at Lesdrevmash 2006:

The production speed for HDF now can be increased on continuous Dieffenbacher presses. Technological change of the forming and pressing concept results in 30% speed increase at the press for HDF carrier board which means further increase of the Dieffenbacher line productivity.

The redesigned Dieffenbacher steam pre-heating boosts productivity by 10–20%. A settable density profile very positively influences the panel quality. Installation of this function is possible within 4 – 5 working days so that the productivity increase can be achieved 3 – 4 times faster than by  extending the press. Low-cost production of very thick panels such as OSL, kitchen panels, doorcores etc. is a great advantage offered by this function.

Dieffenbacher will introduce a new concept for the production of OSL. The combination of the Dieffenbacher preheating system with a continuous press makes production of OSL-products highly efficient. Very thick high-quality strand products can be produced at low cost.

The plant concept Span-3000 and the environmental plant concepts to minimize the formaldehyde emissions are novelties as well.

As sole supplier of continuous LVL-lines with microwave preheating techniques Dieffenbacher informs about continuous production lines for LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber), a high-quality product for the engineered wood construction. These special lines are working with a patented microwave preheating system and are, therefore, producing very economically an endless “LVL billet” of high quality to be used in demanding applications.

Schenkmann-Piel-Engineering GmbH will inform about news in the field of the dryer- and sifter technology.

Dieffenbacher Maschinenfabrik GmbH, will inform about latest developments in the field of lamination technology with highest positioning accuracy, which opens up new possibilities for the design of three-dimensional surfaces.

Another highlight will be presented in the field of service and plant modernization. New concepts for quick and economic plant modernization help short-term, cost-effective and flexible adjustment to new market requirements. Moreover, information is provided about advanced services including online service via internet.

We gladly invite you and are looking forward to your visit in the period from September 12th until 16th 2006, at the Krasnaya Presnya fairground, hall 2, stand no. 22D20. Also on this occasion, we would like to assist you in planning your success.

Yingang of China orders second Dieffenbacher CPS Line:-

In early March of this year Hebei Yingang Wood Industry Co. Ltd., one of China’s leading panel producers, announced its decision to award German plant engineering company Dieffenbacher GmbH + Co. of Eppingen with the contract for the main equipment  supply for its new particle board project.

This news came only 2 years after the start up of Yingang’s first continuous MDF Line using a Dieffenbacher CPS Forming & Press line. The Company has been running successfully on that continuous MDF operation, enjoying a fast growing market mainly for thin THDF panels for the country’s nearby Capital City of Beijing, as well as for the local wood and furniture manufacturing industry of Hebei Province. With this proven track record with the CPS Press plant, the future expansion plans submitted for approval were well received at the Company’s senior level.

Very soon it was clear to Yingang management that the domestic wood panel industry would have to move towards installing more continuous production capacity in order to satisfy the rapidly growing demand of the Chinese furniture industry for high quality particle board.

The new plant project will replace an existing multi-opening press line and will expand particle board capacity of the Company fivefold.  The PB project site is in close vicinity to the existing continuous Dieffenbacher MDF plant and is ideally suited to make use of the common factory site infrastructure.

Raw material supply for the new particle board plant will be round wood as well as residue materials supplied from a large number of wood working plants surrounding the Yingang factory. In addition the plant has the possibility to accept input of a high percentage of recycled wood.

The production capacity has been designed for a nominal daily output of 750 m³ of standard particle board.

The Dieffenbacher scope of supply comprises a plant package including single pass drum dryer of 25 tonnes per hour throughput, one core layer and one surface layer air grader, gluing system, glue blending, a three head forming station followed by the CPS Press of 8 ft width and 20 metres length. The press outfeed raw board handling, cooling and stacking line is of Dieffenbacher design.

The new Yingang particle board line will feature the latest design Dieffenbacher CONFORM 3 head forming station for the production of super fine surface particle board and a range of speciality particle board in the thickness range from 4 to 40 mm.

The new generation Dieffenbacher CPS Press is equipped with a highly flexible infeed section for optimised mat compression characteristics to enable production of panels with optimum panel peak surface density at minimised sanding tolerances.  The press controls are equipped with an advanced precision length and cross profile positioning system.  New plant features include advanced visualisation monitoring systems for operator-friendly access to process parameters and rapid production changes.

Electrical controls and plant automation covering sections of the materials preparation area will be designed and supplied from within the Dieffenbacher Group of Companies.

Dieffenbacher is also the responsible party for overall interface planning and project engineering coordination with other equipment suppliers.

Initial equipment shipments from Europe are scheduled to commence during December 2006. According to the installation and start up programme the production of first board is planned for July 2007.

100 years of Altendorf – New generation of saws debuts at Holz-Handwerk exhibition.

“In the first instance we have to thank our customers for our 100 years of existence. In our view, the cutting-edge technology and comprehensive standard configuration of this new generation of machines represent a new high point. This is by way of saying “thank you” to our customers,” says Wilfried Altendorf, the company’s Managing Partner. With the F 45 Series, Altendorf is also offering three equipment packages at a special price: “The three F 45 packages incorporate features that most often appear on customers’ wish list”

Setting new standards in form and function.

The new generation of machines has been thought and redesigned from the ground up – in form as well as function. The new machines take a distinctive approach even from the visual standpoint, thanks to their modern industrial design. Altendorf has broken new ground with its colour treatment too: While the F 45 continues to be finished in typical Altendorf green, the front of the ELMO range now features an elegant anthracite shade as its dominant colour keynote, making the two ranges readily distinguishable.

The new safety hood is also a real eye-catcher. It has been completely redesigned, making the unit visually more appealing: it now provides even better extraction. The new click-lock function makes it simple to change the hood from narrow to wide settings.

The F 45 now boasts a new, high-legibility 90 mm LCD screen, on which data such as depth of cut, angle of feed and rotational speed are all displayed legibly and in a digital format. The new control system also sets new standards in terms of user friendliness, clarity, safety and convenience. Data is entered using the soft-touch keyboard. The USB interface is another new feature, which allows machine data to be stored or software updates to be imported.By balancing the fully-mounted saw shaft unit and using more cast elements, the new generation of Altendorf saws is outstandingly smooth in operation.

Maintenance-free guide bearings provide the saw unit’s high-precision linear guidance system. Altendorf saw units achieve consistent and unrivalled cutting torque, while maintaining smooth operation in all rotational speed ranges. The four buttons allow both the main saw blade and the scoring unit to be switched on and off for extra convenience and enhanced safety.

Three equipment packages for more performance and more convenience :-

Altendorf is offering its customers packages with predefined configuration levels. Having already garnered entirely positive experiences in other markets, the company was keen to mark the centenary by offering its customers in Germany similar benefits. In putting together the packages Altendorf intensively examined its past order books, and used the three most frequently occurring combinations as the basis for its equipment packages.

The F 45 I equipment package contains the DIGIT X digital cutting width display, which improves its precision. The fence is fitted with a precision setting device to ensure adjustment to within +/-0.1mm. Anyone who regularly cuts large panels will really appreciate the on/off switch on the sliding table.

The motorized rip fence is the highlight of the F 45 II equipment package. Rip fence can be controlled directly from the central operating position, it is no longer necessary to move from one side of the machine to the other – which of course saves time. The cutting width is simply entered using the keypad on the machine frame’s control panel. Once the start button is pressed, the rip fence will adjust to within +/- 0.1mm, saving the operator from having to perform trial cuts. The on/off switch on the sliding table is also part of this package.

The new Altendorf F45 ELMO is the successful fusion of ergonomics and convenience. The new, larger but at the same time elegant control unit on the swivelling operating panel is another eye-catching detail. The radically redesigned control system permits ultra-simple user guidance via self-explanatory graphics on the low-reflection 12” LCD colour display with touch screen. The display shows 90 % of the applications, thus cutting down on time spent navigating. Frequently used special functions can be conveniently stored in the screen’s operator taskbar (desktop function), The USB port for data exchange and backup is also new. A further innovation is the crosscut mitre fence on the F 45 ELMO III and IV, which can be tilted to any angle between 0 and 47° and has integral length compensation. The infinitely variable VARIO drive is now part of the standard configuration of the F 45 ELMO, which not only avoids the need to move the V-belts, but also significantly extends the useful life of the saw blades, because the rotational speed can be more effectively matched to the material.

The F 45 ELMO III offers a diverse range of practice-oriented application programs to make both the daily routine and special applications simpler. Operation is via a 12’’ touch screen. The user need type in the parameters, press the start key and the motorized rip fence will move, at 250 mm/sec., to assume the desired settings within +/-0.1mm.

The F45 ELMO IV is the pinnacle of the Altendorf sliding table saw range. It has four axes – height, tilt, rip fence and crosscut mitre fence. These can be controlled via the ELMO 12’’ touch screen controls and the comprehensive range of programs. With the interface package option, the F 45 ELMO becomes network-capable.

More precise control – more economical operation.

The control system has been set up around a CAN bus, for even more precise and homogeneous operation. The F45 ELMO’s control intelligence is managed more effectively and updated continuously. Individual components can also easily be updated – the USB interface is ideal for importing software updates or calling up machine data.

Thanks to the new control system, even difficult cuts are made easier and more exact than ever. The new controls measure the mitre angle to within 0.01°, calculate the length compensation and automatically adjust the throw-over stops to the most appropriate setting.

ADVANTAGE - RELIABILITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND FLEXIBILITY BY RBO

In Biesse Wood Division, RBO attends to the customer’s requirements related to industrial automation. RBO has a large range of products suitable for any production requirement. The experience gained in thirty years of activity represents the company’s heritage that is constantly enriched by new solutions in order to meet the requests of the international customers.

Advantage is the most suitable solution to the customer’s particular requirements, with very competitive prices but keeping at the same time the productivity and reliability of a high engineered product. RBO proposes Advantage as solution for lines demanding medium-high performances where the main requirements for the feeding continuity are the high speed in handling and the reliability in the panel detaching. It’s a feeder/stacker with 15 cycles/min. productivity, suggested for lines where the required productivity is 25-28 panels per minute. The installation of the mechanical panel detacher makes the Advantage a highly

reliable machine that is able to “detach” any type of panel presenting problems of adhesion: from laminated panels to raw chipboard panels, from honeycomb panels to uncoated MDF panels both in single and double row. The machine flexibility - due to its perfect industrialization - allows the handling of many panel compositions on the stack both in width and in length; the machine can be as well configured in one or two feeding positions both lengthwise and crosswise being in this way the best solution for the different panel processing and for the different requirements in material flow and logistics. Moreover, by the application of the “telescopic frame” option the machine can also be

positioned in buildings where the overall dimension in height is reduced. In the Advantage the operator’s intervention is minimum as the machine is completely automatic and the conveyors speeds are parameterized according to the feeding and stacking compositions.

AMERICAN HARDWOOD COMPANIES TO PARTICIPATE IN INDIAWOOD 2006

As India’s economy grows, the demand for affordable Kitchen/Office/Bedroom and other wood based products continues to grow.   As consumption levels increase, the need for mechanization of wood processing becomes mandatory.  In addition, as the market matures the use of quality raw materials makes a cutting edge difference to successful production. INDIAWOOD since it’s inception in 1999, has been instrumental in gradually creating a successful woodworking Industry, by providing a platform for the woodworkers in the Asian region to meet, interact and more importantly source quality machinery and raw materials.

Recognizing the fact that INDIAWOOD is the only platform in the region that provides growth opportunities, newer exhibitors from hitherto un-represented regions and segments are targeting the Indian market by participating in large numbers. The AMERICAN HARDWOOD EXPORT COUNCIL (AHEC) an association representing the Hardwood Exporters and major hardwood product trade associations from the United States and a Brazilian consortium of timber exporters are exhibiting in Indiawood 2006 through their respective pavilions. Even the Japanese who traditionally looked to cater only to the home and the US market are now looking at making forays into the Indian market through INDIAWOOD.

The success of the TAIWANESE wood working machinery companies in the Indian market post their participation in the 2004 edition has prompted the Taiwan woodworking machinery association and the Taiwan association of Machinery Industries to double their size in the 2006 edition. The Taiwan pavilion now stands at 1386 sq. mtrs.  Even as news of Taiwan’s success in the Indian market is making the rounds, the Koreans, the Chinese and the Malaysians are now vying for a share of the Indian market by participating in the 2006 edition. Indiawood 2006 currently stands at about 15000 sq mtrs and continues to grow in size as more and more exhibitors are evincing interest to participate.

About International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS)

The International Furniture Fair Singapore, held in conjunction with the ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS), began in 1981 and has since grown to be regarded by industry experts as Asia's most prestigious furniture trade show. IFFS/AFS provides an effective marketing platform for regional companies to venture into global markets. As a testimony to the quality of the show, IFFS/AFS is the first Asian-based international furniture fair to be accepted as a member of the elite Union des Foires Internationales, a Paris-based international authority on trade fairs. In addition, it is the only furniture trade event in Singapore to be awarded the 'Approved International Fair' status by the Singapore Tourism Board. The Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau also recognises the fair as a major exhibition event on Singapore's international exhibition calendar.

VIETNAMWOOD 2005: International Trade Fair of Woodworking Machines and Tools

Incorporating: Furniture Accessories and Semi-finished Product for the Woodworking Industry

The 5th Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair 2005 will open its door to the public on October 19th to 22nd at HIECC. This will be the most dynamic exhibition and its exhibition floor is estimated to be about 7000sq. meters, and there will be about 15 countries participating the fair. We give our gratitude to European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Eumabois) and Wood Machinery Manufacturers of U.S for their contributions that had increased the exhibition’s attraction and professional level.

Vietnam is currently on its way to become the number one furniture manufacturing country in Asia. Due to the lack of modern manufacturing technology and skills, the Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fairs are developed and highly anticipated by Vietnam's furniture industries. During the 2004's exhibition, participating organizations came from 15 different countries around the world; they are China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Swiss, and U.S. There are a total number of 360 booths, and had attracted 14,288 visitors from Vietnamese and worldwide. The theme focused on various woodwork machines, cutters, furniture accessories, and semi-finished products. Business interactions took over the exhibition floor and most transactions were made on site. The Fair had earned many well-deserved phrases from local and international exhibitors, buyers, and visitors.

Another worth noting point, the Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair is currently the only large-scale professional exhibition held in Vietnam. Its professionalism and high quality of its participating exhibitors are the first to be seen in Vietnam. Its many visitors are specialist in related areas, which is different from other Woodworking Fairs. The fair has received assistance from Vietnam government officials and local industry associations, and it looks forward to our visiting foreign industrial delegates from Italy, Germany, China, Taiwan, India, and such. The 5th Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair 2005 hopes to bring benefits to the local woodwork manufacturing industries, improvements in technology and skills, and opportunities to replace its outdated machines.

AWFS®Vegas" Proves To Be A Winner
                                                      On-site Attendance up 22%
Mid-West, Eastern US and International Visitors Dramatically Increase
Largest Show in History of EvelJ

The numbers are in: "AWFS® Vegas" had a total registration of 30, 323 including a record 19,866 attendees. Verified total attendance of 24,289 for the Wednesday through-Saturday show days, July 27 to July 30, 2005, was up 37% fro_ 2003. Verified attendee numbers increased 22%, for a total of 17,045 - the largest attendee crowd in the history of the show.

In addition, " AWFS® Vegas " had the largest exhibit space of any show in its history with 418,435 net square feet of exhibit space, filled with 898 exhibiting companies, nearly a 20% increase in both exhibit space and number of exhibitors from 2003. The demographics for the inaugural Las Vegas event were markedly different from past Anaheim fairs. While California still represented the largest group of attendees, attendance from every other state increased dramatically, with 44 of 50 states experiencing triple digit percentage increases. International attendance more than doubled, with a 134% increase. "We have achieved our two main goals, of increasing our attendance by 20% without sacrificing quality, and of making this truly a national, indeed, an international event," notes Dale Silverman, executive director of the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® AWFS® Vegas. "In addition, exhibitors are telling us they've seen more qualified buyers this year than at any other previous "AWFS® Vegas" "We were extremely pleased to see our attendee numbers up from the mid-west, east and southern states," adds Angelo Gangone, " AWFS® Vegas trade show director. He shared some statistics: Texas had a 284% increase, Ohio a 278% increase, Illinois a 133% increase, Indiana an astounding 692% increase, Michigan a 216% increase, North Carolina a 185% increase and Florida an impressive 374% increase. "Our western states were up as well including Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon with gains of 248%, 142%, 77%, 73%, and 47% respectively

Attendees and exhibitors have indicated they like the new venue, the new show days and hours, the convention center and the city itself. According to Robert Slater, Optimizing Group Manager of Weinig Group "This wasn't a good show, it was a great show! It far exceeded our expectations in terms of the actual sales that were generated during the event, as well as the amount of post-show leads that we are following. In addition, we were really excited by the demographic makeup of the attendees. We expected more attendees from the East and Midwest because of the new venue but could not believe how many customers we met with from all over the country. Also remarkable, we had very steady traffic well into the last day of the show, something that doesn't typically happen on the last day of any show."  Doug Kemp of Kemp Hardware, a long time exhibitor who initially had doubts about the new venue had similar thoughts. "This was a great show! I saw all the buyers I used to see in Anaheim and a whole lot of new people as well. Friday was a record-breaking day for us and Saturday was even better! In fact it was the best last day of any show I've been to in years." Exhibitors confirmed the attendance statistics, with many anecdotal stories of meeting with new contacts and generating new leads. "We met so many new people this year, it was fantastic," said Kevin Fong of Decorative Specialties. Max Salmi, marketing manager ofBiesse America stated that "  ‘AWFS® Vegas ' was the best 'West Coast' show Biesse has ever had in its history." Stephanie Sorrels, marketing manager of Interior Products Inc. stated, "This was the largest show in the last six years in terms of sales leads generated. We will be expanding our booth in 2007 and maybe adding a second one!" Morgen Harrelson, ofwgsonline.com, a first time exhibitor, noted when picking up her display at the First Timer Exhibit Showcase that she was "very happy", that after so much planning and preparation, the show had actually exceeded their expectations.

Pre-registration figures were close to on-site attendance, which was a new phenomenon for the AWFS® Vegas. "In past history of   "AWFS® Vegas, pre-registration would run high, but there would be many "no-shows" as people would get busy with orders and never carve out the time to get to the local event." explained Silverman. "Because Las Vegas drew in people from further away, they had to make a more serious commitment to attend, including hotel reservations and travel arrangements. We are thrilled with this new development as it means pre-registration figures are more indicative of actual attendance.

Participation was also high for the College of Woodworking Knowledge® (CWWK), increasing by 74% over 2003 Fair levels with 3,722 participants.

The AWFS® Awards dinner was a great success and sold out before the Fair opened. Scott Phillips, host of the PBS series "The American Woodshop," served as Master of Ceremonies for the professionally-produced event. A star-studded stage and two large video screens added to the evening's excitement. AWFS® Vegas President Barry Howerton of Leggett & Platt noted that the night showcased the future of the industry, recognizing the talent of the future woodworking students as well as innovative new products with the AWFS® Vegas Sequoia Awards. He also thanked the AWFS® Vegas Board of Directors for making the courageous decision to move to Las Vegas. "In hindsight we know it was a wise decision, but 2 years ago, it was not that easy," said Howerton.
