NHLA-certified lumber procurement staff personally select and grade the material to assure that the manufacturing process is begun with quality hardwoods. There is the use of proper lumber sticking, stacking and tarpalling
techniques to minimize degrade, and giving white woods special handling to
preserve color. Every foot of the 9 million board feet in the yard inventory
is pre-dried and yarded for moisture equalization. On receiving an order,
the lumber is dried on one of the two seasonal schedules from 5 to 7%
average moisture content to ensure stability
Catawissa Plant's Fletcher double-end tenoner is one of five double-end machines at the three plant locations. The machines are equipped with multiple machining stations to trim, top/bottom
