In 2007 the newest surface
treatment techniques and processes will take center stage at
LlGNA+ HANNOVER. Virtually no other segment of woodworking
and wood processing has made such visible strides as surface
treatment. This is true not only for liquid and powder
coating materials or printing on paper, film and wood, but
also for using film, paper and veneers to coat wood and
panel products. |

Astonishingly natural
appearance
Significant progress in terms of
quality, speed, cost reductions and environmental
compatibility can be seen in the current substrate materials
(fiber board, chip board, solid wood). Some of the most
spectacular new innovations include direct printing, laser
printing of decorations and an emissions-free thermal
smoothing process. These new processes give surfaces a
quality that is surprisingly natural, but which outdo
natural products in terms of their resistance to external
influences. Among the international market leaders
represented at LlGNA+ HANNOVER 2007 are Robert Burkle GmbH,
based in Freudenstadt. This company produces machines and
equipment for the furniture and electronics industries. To
better exploit the synergies involved, Managing Director
HansJoachim Bender explains that his company distills the
experiences from both sectors to develop liquid coatings for
wood and plastics as well as glass. Apart from liquid
coating, this is also taking place in the fields of coating
and laminating, indirect intaglio printing, digital
printing, automatic veneering and special machine programs
for applying thin films and high-gloss films. Many processes
which were previously reserved exclusively for major
enterprises have now been developed for high-end joinery
shops as well. |
